# Governance

## Overview of the governance and $MCLB's role

$MCLB serves not only as a utility token but also as the governance token within the ecosystem, facilitating progressive decentralization.

Governance primarily revolves around $MCLB tokenholder (DAO) voting, which is crucial for decision-making within the ecosystem. Tokenholders oversee the management of the community treasury and make key decisions regarding ecosystem development, including product expansion and focus areas.

To ensure the DAO functions as a fully decentralized and autonomous user-governed entity, a formalized decision-making process is essential. In a permissionless ecosystem with open smart contract systems, all participants should have the opportunity to propose changes and enhancements.
